Each component undergoes functional, thermal, and optical testing, following protocols aligned with international industry regulations. Process quality is guaranteed by ISO 9001 certification, which ensures systematic management and continuous improvement.

  • Compliance with electrical safety standards is ensured through the CB Scheme IEC, managed in collaboration with certification bodies under CTF2 (Customer Testing Facility, Level 2) status, allowing internationally recognized testing to be performed directly within our laboratories
  • A further distinguishing milestone is the recent ISO 17025 accreditation obtained for our photometric laboratory, certifying technical competence and the reliability of advanced photometric testing methods

Managing laboratories means facing daily challenges and turning them into growth opportunities. What aspect of your work are you most proud of?

What I’m most proud of is our laboratories’ ability to turn critical situations into opportunities for improvement.

I remember a project where, during the final stages of development, we identified a potential thermal issue that could have affected product performance once on the market.

Despite extremely tight timelines, the team reacted immediately and in a coordinated manner. We analyzed the root cause, defined an accelerated testing plan, and worked closely with R&D and production to implement an effective solution.

Within a few days, we not only addressed the root cause but also reinforced the product’s thermal performance and long-term reliability.

Looking ahead, which research and development areas will GDS laboratories focus on?

In the coming years, our laboratories will increasingly focus on the development of efficient, sustainable, and intelligent LED lighting technologies for professional applications.

A strategic priority will be the evolution toward connected and integrated solutions, where lighting, sensors, and control systems interact to create safer, more flexible, and energy-efficient environments. This will require new testing methodologies and dedicated instrumentation, which the laboratories are already introducing.

At the same time, we aim to further strengthen our certification expertise by expanding accreditations into additional key areas, including:

  • Material validation
  • Lifetime testing
  • Environmental safety verification

Extending the scope of ISO 17025 accreditation and enhancing CTF schemes will be essential to achieving higher levels of operational autonomy and testing reliability.
